Walgreens Trip 2/6/11

YAY for getting out of the house after blizzard 2011. We went to the store last Monday in preparation for the snow which waited till later that night. And then didn't stop and didn't stop and didn't stop--it was beautiful! And it kept us home for a few days to many =). I finally got out and away from the insanity today and feel completely restored! Well, maybe not completely--dreading another late night and early morning with congested babies who feel the need to drain me dry--literally...

Thursday we received about 3 more inches on top of the 12-16 from blizzopia, but it all started to melt on Saturday just in time to refreeze and get more tonight. I've never seen snow like this. Not all at once anyway. Pretty amazing.

ANYWHO.....trying to hold down the fort and help everyone to feel better and not need a trip to the doctor, but the kids are a bit stir-crazy and we've had to be a bit inovative with PE inside. YouTube exercise videos. So far they are a hit. Especially projected up on the wall. Fun times.

Now, my outing, of course, was to a store. Walgreens, of course. And I forgot to take my $15 RR that I got last Monday. Of course. But I still made out extremely well. Spent $28 OOP and got, in 2 transactions: 6 ragu, 3 skippy peanut butter [sorry Carthage shoppers, I did leave 3 peanut butter and 2 ragu on the shelf though], 1 salt, 1 baking soda, 3 cans black olives, 5 dawn, 2 colgate, 1 box lipton tea, 2 swiffer wetjet refills, 2 packs cascade, 2 boxes magic erasers, and 2 moisturizing hand sanitizers. Came home with $13 RR, so total cost was $15. Used Coupon Teacher to print my list and plan on going back, weather and sickness permitting, to get $6.99 Scott TP and perhaps candy for Valentine's Day and Ocean Spray Juice $2.99 and get $2 RR. I should be able to use up a lot of these P&G RR on that stuff.

Dillons trip 1/29/11

Finally made it to Dillons and got a few okay deals. I followed Frugal Fritzie to get the coupon matchups and before discounts, the 40 items totaled over $50. My 8yo son was shocked to see that total go down so fast =). I only got 5 things that did not have coupons or discounts [white sandwich bread for 49cents!!] and that was cans of green beans for $.49 each to bring my total of Mega Event items to an even 20. If you don't understand the Mega Event, it is advertised as ''buy 10, get $5 off", so they advertise the 50cent off price of each thing, BUT if you get 11 items, it still only takes off $5, so it is the best deal when you have an even 10, or 20, or 30, which I think is the max per order.....

And I was hoping to see if the Joplin Dillon's was still letting you use MQ and EQ on the same items, but I didn't have any matchup. However, on mydillons.com, they are saying, at least on certain ones that they cannot be combined, so that's a bummer for sure.

The deals you should definitely know about that I cashed in on, were......

Need razors?

If so, dig out that SmartSource insert from 12/12/10 and cut out the $2/1 bic disposable MQ--it expires Sunday, yes, THIS Sunday--and THAT is the day you have to go use it at Walgreens because they will have them for $4.99 and recieve a $1 RR, so also pick up a $.25 no nonsense knee highs [or other useful cheap filler], use your MQ and a $2 RR [which is why you have to have a filler], spend a lil over $1 OOP and receive another $1 RR. YEAH!!
Just me......planning out my trips to Wags........will also be getting cereal this next week [and vitamins!!]...........

Another good week at Walgreens!! Especially if you have a bunch of those p&g RR that need spending.

I was in Webb City last night for Bball practice, so went to their Wags and was just slightly disappointed. I hope a trip in ours will go a little better. They were out of the 19cent 5packs of mechanical pencils which would be the BEST fillers ever [have to use a WQ to get that price], so I resorted to the 39cent bowl fresh and rubber gloves [again, WQ].

Yep, gonna finish this year off big with lots of Walgreens posts--haha!!

This was a necessary trip since I forgot toilet paper yesterday. Of course, I stopped at the Dollar Tree again to see if there were any KC Star left--nope! Oh well!! According to the receipts, I saved $18.33. This isn't completely accurate because the stuff is sometimes cheaper elsewhere, BUT I still saved and got GOOD stuff. Lookin forward to ANOTHER trip Thursday!! LOL~

Wags Moneymaker 12/28/10

Wahoo for making money at Walgreen's!!!!!
I had this all typed out and then my busy busy 14month old Elizabeth eraased it, so this will just be short and sweet......
FIRST, i went to DollarTree to pick up a couple extra Sunday papers for a $1. Then I snagged the $4/1 sinex product out of the p&g insert.
The best deal would be to have 4 of those coupons and grab 4 of the $5 box of Dayquil Sinex. When you buy $15 of certain sinex/vicks stuff you get $5 RR, or buy $20 and get $10. You would only spend $4 OOP and receive $10 RR, MAKING $6!!!! I didn't foresee the box of dayquil sinex being included, so I didn't buy enough papers, but I got 2 boxes of them, a sinex spray for $6 and a babyvaporub for $4 with $1 MQ and the 3 $4/1 MQs, paying $7 OOP, and still making $3!! YAY!! There are all sorts of combos to make money with this. I plan on getting more papers if I can and even scanning the recycling dumpster for anyone on top of the game and already throwing out this sunday's paper.
I also want to get in on the pantene and herbal essence and aussie deals--none free, but good deals when you go thru it like we do!!
Just me........off to fight some sinus junk.....

Kroger system redeems coupons from cell phones

Cutting a stack of coupons from the Sunday newspaper has helped pass many an afternoon, but now Michigan's largest grocer wants customers to trim their grocery bills from the comfort of their own phones.
Time-crunched shoppers can download coupons on their BlackBerries, iPhones and other mobile devices now that the Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. has unrolled a mobile coupon program at all 2,477 Kroger locations nationwide. Savings apply to dozens of national brands including Colgate Palmolive, General Mills and Kimberly-Clark.
"Retailers have a wider generation of shoppers shopping with them than they ever had before," said Kroger spokesman Dale Hollandsworth. Younger consumers have come to expect Internet and mobile-based savings, he said.
Coupon usage increases across all ages and income levels when the economy is down. Coupon redemption is up 72 percent nationwide, according to an August consumer poll by Massachusetts-based marketing consultant Prospectiv. Internet coupon usage has surged by 73 percent since 2005, according to a report by Scarborough Research.
Mobile couponing, savings that can be accessed on the go, represents the next frontier. However, no other major supermarket chain has debuted a program of Kroger's scope, according to the Food Marketing Institute and the Michigan Grocers Association.
Twelve million people, or 5.2 percent of mobile subscribers, received at least one coupon on their mobile phones in November, according to the latest data available from market research firm comScore Inc. That's a 66 percent increase over the year before.
Coupons link to an account Kroger partnered with San Jose, Calif. digital company Cellfire to create the program and tested it last summer at 20 Kroger stores in Metro Atlanta. More than half of consumers in the pilot program redeemed more than one coupon, according to Hollandsworth.
Customers can register for a coupon savings account at www.cellfire.com from their mobile phone or computer. Entering their mobile phone number and Kroger Savings Plus card number links the coupons to the account. Shoppers can then browse coupons from their phones or computers and click on desired deals, which are then loaded onto the grocery card and redeemed at checkout.
Used or expired coupons are removed from the Cellfire account. New grocery offers appear every two weeks.
The service is free of charge but standard mobile usage charges may apply, depending on the carrier or data plan, according to Cellfire.
Convenience of Web coupons
Web coupons represent just 0.4 percent of the multi-billion dollar coupon industry, but are expected to grow.
Sunday newspaper inserts account for more than 88 percent of total coupons, according to the Promotion Marketing Association. Magazines. Direct mail and in-store handouts account for the rest.
Sunday newspaper inserts are "still predominant, but there is a tilt towards tech-based coupon delivery systems," said Jeffrey Stoltman, Wayne State University marketing professor.
Web coupons are often more convenient for consumers, who can search for deals quickly and don't need to remember to bring their clippings to the store.
"Clipping is laborious," Stoltman said, "but a couple of clicks on a keyboard and you're there."
Mobile couponing has great potential "given the number of cell phones out there," according to Charles Brown, co-chair of the Promotion Marketing Association Coupon Council.
Paperless coupon systems can also save money for retailers who spend "tens of millions of dollars in processing costs collectively," said Dan Kihanya, vice president of consumer marketing for Cellfire.
However, mobile couponing is a new behavior and retailers could lose customers who don't have cell phones or don't feel comfortable with technology, WSU's Stoltman warned.
Savings can be substantial
Kroger shopper Nancy McKinley of Grosse Pointe said she was not aware of Kroger's mobile couponing program but would welcome a more convenient alternative to newspaper clipping.
McKinley, who saves between $5 and $15 with coupons at Kroger each week, said she generally sets aside newspaper coupon inserts and goes through them every couple of months.
"A lot of times they've expired before I get to them," she said. "You've got to save money."
